MUNICIPAL MANAGEMENT ANALYST

Hiring Salary Range: $39,520 to $48,048

Starting salary based on knowledge and qualifications

City is seeking applicants for a full-time Municipal Management Analyst reporting to the City Administrator. The position is designed to provide flexible professional and paraprofessional support throughout the City organization with specific duties, tasks and responsibilities depending on the knowledge, skills and interests of the employee.

The ideal applicant will have a proactive approach to problem solving, strong written and verbal communication skills, sound judgement and a capacity for professional and technical growth.

Although the role is flexible and will evolve, the position’s initial responsibility will be providing executive, professional and paraprofessional support to City Administrator and to other Senior Staff including the Police Chief, Public Works Director and Parks and Recreation Director. Position will also provide technical and professional support to Mayor and other elected officials under direction of the City Administrator.

Duties and assignments will range from general administrative tasks (calendars, customer service, memos, correspondence) to more complex technical and professional responsibilities including independent and directed analysis, report development, program scheduling, work plan development and coordinating procurement of services, vehicles and equipment. A common requirement for all duties is good judgement, ability to self-start and ability to interact and communicate with all levels of the municipal organization.

Knowledge, skills and capacity needed to succeed in the position include:

Capacity and interest in problem identification and resolution

Ability to develop and manipulate data in spreadsheets and online data applications

General knowledge of local government functional areas (budget and finance, public works, utilities, public safety, parks and recreation)

Capacity to understand and evaluate complex mathematical calculations

Ability to maintain complex administrative records and prepare reports from records

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City employees, government officials and the general public.

Ability to communicate with executive officials and the general public with tact and diplomacy

Ability to troubleshoot basic software issues and provide basic IT assistance/support to front line staff


Applicant must have the interest and capacity to perform meaningful work across all functional areas of municipal government. The ability to flexibly adjust from complex analytic tasks to front line customer interaction is necessary to be successful. Applicant must be able to communicate clearly and logically articulate complex issues verbally and in written documents.

Applicants will be evaluated based on capacity, flexibility and ability to provide a broad range of professional and paraprofessional duties of the position. Relevant academic achievement, professional/work experience and/or specific technical qualifications will be included in the evaluation.
